These multimode step-index silica-silica fibers have a pure silica core and doped silica cladding. The UV grade (high OH) will transmit light from 180 to 1200 nm. The IR grade (low OH) will transmit from 500-2600 nm. They have a very low fluorescence and are recommended for spectroscopy. They will allow high power transmission and can be used in all UHV applications. We can also offer vacuum feedthroughs using these fibers that are epoxy free and epoxy free patchcords are available for internal vacuum chamber use. Pure silica core fibers have excellent radiation resistance.

These fibers can be bent in a much smaller radius than their equivalent sized fiber with a polymer coating.

*These figures refer to threshold of damage and assume a circular spot with linear power distribution. Many real lasers are less than ideal and so these figures must be used with caution. Our technical sales department will be pleased to advise on selection of fibers for high-powered lasers.

CuBALL multimode fibers can be used as a substitute for aluminium coated fibers in most applications. They will allow higher temperature use at no extra cost.
